UNCTAD's informal Working Group on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce (WGE) will hold a members-only meeting.
The meeting will explore two emerging issues in consumer protection in e-commerce: neuromarketing and behavioural science, and age limits for social media. It will provide participants of the WGE with an opportunity to engage directly with experts on topics that are particularly relevant to vulnerable consumers.
The session will also include a segment on future activities of the WGE, allowing participants to exchange views and propose concrete outputs and priorities for the group's upcoming work.
Participation is limited to WGE participants. The meeting will be held online.
The agenda will feature opening remarks by Rémi Lang (UNCTAD); a presentation by Ettore M. Lombardi (European University Institute) on neuromarketing, behavioural science and consumer protection; a presentation by Emy Gustavsson and Cecilia Norlander (Swedish Consumer Agency) on age limits for social media from a consumer protection perspective; and a discussion on future WGE activities led by Valentina Rivas (UNCTAD) and Prof. Christine Riefa (University of Reading).
